Overview:
Molly was my childhood dog. She grew up with me, but later was taken care of by my grandmother. Sadly, Molly passed away recently, and I have been deeply saddened by the loss. We shared countless memories together, so I decided to create this needle felted piece in her memory.
Features:
I recreated her warm, smiling expression with wool. She always smiled at me like that. To make her mouth and tongue look more realistic, I used polymer clay, and I also replicated the little accessory she used to wear around her neck out of felt. Every Golden Retriever's fur color is unique—some are lighter, some darker—so I mixed different shades of wool to match the color of her fur as I remember it.
Creation Process:
I started by crafting the base using needle felting techniques, then sculpted her mouth and tongue with polymer clay. I hand-painted her eyes with watercolor, blended the wool for her fur, and carefully applied and trimmed it. Lastly, I made her a cute little decorative necklace to complete the piece.
