Tortoiseshell Cat - Ouanda
- Overview: In this felting project, I focused on creating a short-haired tortoiseshell cat, carefully capturing the distinctive orange and black patterning that defines these beautiful animals. My goal was to make the paws as detailed and tactile as possible, aiming to create a piece that would help the owner feel a deep connection to their departed pet.
- Features: Recreating the intricate tortoiseshell coat was a significant challenge, requiring meticulous attention to the varied distribution of colors. I spent considerable time blending and positioning the wool to accurately reflect the unique calico markings. Though it was a time-consuming process, I felt it was essential to achieve the authenticity and lifelike quality of the piece.
- Creation Process: I began with the head, focusing on giving the eyes a truly expressive look. From there, I turned my attention to the paws, which became a central feature of the piece. To create a more realistic texture, I used polymer clay for the paw pads, combining it with needle-felted wool. This mix of materials was intended to evoke the feel of a real cat when touched. Every detail was included with the hope of making this piece a meaningful and comforting memorial for the owner
